• The single effect is probably the Civil rights movement and that people of all races should be equal.

1. "Take these broken wings and learn to fly."- This means that black people (and people of all other races) have been disadvantaged, but that they need to use the fact that they have been broken to pick themselves back up again and keep going.
2. "Into the light of the dark black night."- This probably means that they should try to find the light (goodness) in every dark and bleak situation they find themselves in.
3. "Blackbird singing in the dead of night."- This means that they have to cry out and try to get better conditions in the black of night (all alone), since no one will help them or stand by their side.
